This doesn't make any sense. I suspect what actually happened is they threw a LAN party but airbnb's typically have an explicit policy against "parties", so they came up with cryptocurrency mining as their excuse for carting in a bunch of PCs so they didn't get banned from the platform and the story blew up

Seems made up? 🤨 How do they know it was 100k? How did that come up in the conversation? Turn off mining and lug expensive computers around for a marginal 1% gain? Makes no sense, does it?

That's a 67x ROI. I doubt those profits. If true, seems like the miners could easily reimburse the Airbnb host.
