one thing that always strikes me after visiting my parents, i really don't like HDTV everything appears like it's been made using a camcorder and motion/movements look very CGI, or as the kids today would say, AI generated just me?

I think it is way more definition then our eyes naturally see. It bothers me a lot as well. It is β€œΓΌber” perfect. And everything looks better if it is not like that.

they might have the the true motion set to ON which gives a fake higher frame rate and makes it look like a soap opera. Good for sports, but terrible for movies! can be disabled and then it should look as it should be.

Hmm. No, not just you. But is it everything, or "everything not really made for HDTV"? Sometimes it looks fine.
