british athletics has received a huge funding cut

which means that athletes will get less financial support from the national governing body 

a year ago this would have made me panic and i know many other athletes will be panicking too

since building onchain / on farcaster i have made a little over what i earn in a YEAR of national olympic funding in 4 months whilst being able to train full-time🤯

this is a real life usecase!! 

in 2025 i am determined to bring more athletes onchain 🫡

Feel your pain @afrochicks my friend is Australia's top marathon runner and record holder. I had a chat with him two weeks in London about how he can just ensure his not losing money from investing time to compete around the world - tough gig. I did mention what you are doing, seemed to be working but would be nice if you had some support hey!

i worry about the next generation of athletes too🥲 they are so many people with talent but no resources to take it to the next level

having financial support outside of just traditional sponsorship and national governing bodies will allow us to actually discover the greatest athletes! 

they are already starting to charge cross country athletes to compete too which is such a barrier.

imagine there is a future world record holder right now who will quit because of lack of resources, i really believe onchain can help with this!! 💪🏾

an absolute disgrace, we have the same here in France. then we act all surprised when other countries that make sports a priority get better results (looking at you USA).
i remember that in my sport, we didn't even have budget to get sent to world cups, so we could only do continental championships and never gained the xp we need to get really good…

I was listening to a podcast the other day about the Olympics and how athletes get screwed financially even though NBC and all the other media outlets get millions and millions of dollars.
