Had to ask the same to the woke caster community. What's an example of people paying for curation (vs. creation)? The best answer I saw was "museums" https://i.imgur.com/NDRFegv.png

Any application that provides content. Inadvertently you are paying for indirect personalized curation from platforms like Spotify and Netflix

Anyone buying books or online courses from bloggers who make the content available for free If you bought Atomic Habits (and millions did), you’re paying for curation

Wine clubs, subscription to coffee beans, etc. I'm sure there are more examples in the gourmet space. My dad used to have a wine club subscription, they sent him a couple bottles every month along with a story of why they picked them.

Paying for streaming services in some ways amounts to this in my understanding.. The curated playlists that are updated on the major streaming services are a form of paying for curation if the users return to these playlists often.

To add to the ones already mentioned I’d say recruiting/expert finder type services are a good one. Eg Alphasites/GLG are just curating experts for consulting calls.

My newsletter: https://threetimeswiser.substack.com/ β€œThree Times Wiser is a newsletter about big ideas, mental models, brain bugs, and principles of wise thinking. In a world of too much, selecting, and finding is valuable. In the context of excess, curation makes sense of the world.”

What about online radio community subscriptions? Niche communities, but NTS and Worldwide FM are/were making it work… Maybe you’re getting more from it than purely curation, but equally all that music is available elsewhere… so it’s not solely about availability.
