Farcaster: 6,812 followers, posted to /dev with 163K followers ➡️ 9 likes, 1 recast, 100+ views Bluesky: 654 followers ➡️ 14 likes X: 4,536 followers ➡️ 6 likes, 173 views Not many of the Bluesky likes were direct followers, seems the "Discover" tab that relies on "likes in your graph" is getting a lot of use.

Everyone cheering for Canada to become the 51st US state should know that the single uniting piece of Canadian culture is “not American”. It might sound tongue-in-cheek but it’s deeply entwined in our history. It’s hilarious/sad that Canadians are like this but it’s one of the only things we all agree on. I’d bet most Canadians would take a lower standard of living than capitulate to becoming American (with the possible exception of Albertans).

Did you know that seashells are the oldest kind of currency? I’ve been taking breaks from working on the newest kinds of currency to hike down to the beach and look for shells. I get a dopamine rush when I see a little sparkle in a tide pool. It feels primal, but also eerily similar to hunting for magic internet money on my computer, like despite millennia of evolution our brains are still pretty much the same. I’ve started airdropping abalone shells into my friends’ hands when I run into them at the post office. I might try to kickstart a new local seashell economy and trade with my neighbors for fresh milk and eggs. Wish me luck.

I genuinely feel that the concept of influencers is overrated. We often focus on the issues of fast fashion and overconsumption, overlooking the role of influencers. Their main gig boils down to pushing any product for a paycheck. Time to rethink!
