Is it worth using wrist straps for lat pull downs, etc.? I’m working on grip strength and practicing hangs but I feel like my grip lets me down

For those keeping track, I brought them today to help with shoulder shrugs and definitely noticed that my traps gave out before my grip ever did. I’ve also been adding in a lot more dead hangs and farmer walks between sets and on my way to my next machines.

If your intent is to grow the lat/back, then use straps as they help will isolate the lats when doing pulldowns and other back movements. I typically train my grip with its own movement such as farmer walks and deadhangs.

Just my humble opinion, but if you spam farmer walks on your regular workouts you will notice massive improvement on the grip department, the rest comes after imho

Grip strength comes from pull ups and high pull ups (you can use a band) Just do that a lot and you won’t have problems with lat pull and maybe deadlift using heavy weights.

I use straps for nearly ALL pulling work. It will save your elbows from tendonitis and allow you to actually challenge and grow back muscles. Work on your grip separately.
