TIL that the Delaware flag has the state's founding date on it. p bad taste imo. i can almost hear the client / design fight that went down on this 250 years ago lol

On the other hand, how great is this early revolutionary flag: a tree and a quote taken from a philosophical treatise (Locke) denouncing the divine right of kings.

https://youtu.be/l4w6808wJcU watched this the other day and learned the same. Most state flags are very ugly.

Why did you think so? I don't understand the history and traditions of the area, so I don't know why there was a conflict in design.

I have a good friend who is very deep into vexillology (the ology of flags) and the number one faux pas is to have either A) the name of the place or B) the founding date of that place ANYWHERE on the flag. Nearly all US states break this rule except Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, and Ohio

Nah that’s why they got to be the first state on the quarter by ratifying constitution the fastest… wasn’t the most important state in process but can’t take away they were first state to ratify. Late ass Rhode Island didn’t do so until Washington was in office in 1790.
