The precipitous drop in Trump's popularity w/ Gen Z isn't just a polling correction. I think it reveals how our political cartography fails to measure winds blowing from directions it doesn't yet recognize from a generation living in post-identity. What we're witnessing isn't voter fickleness but an emergent consciousness skeptical of power with deep skepticism at the same time it craves the ability to effect radical change. They're not seeking stability within structures they perceive as inherently destabilizing their future. The radical reset they crave isn't ideologically left-right but existential: they want systems that acknowledge respect their human dignity as non-negotiable; they still crave the validation of power as a signal that the system will work in their favor. They are creating political identities that see elections as necessary but insufficient for survival-level transformation.

I’m unsettled when I see the word ‘medicine’ used by psychedelic enthusiasts, purportedly as a loan concept from how indigenous peoples or long-term holistic practitioners might use it to describe the use of psychedelic plant medicine. How many times have you heard some psychonaut claim that if everyone had a revelatory ayahuasca/LSD/MDMA experience the world would be different? I wonder how much of the deep ‘healing’ attributed to psychedelics is just part a Penrosesteps type mental loop that always seems to end on a revelation that leads to more questions, precisely because the brain was primed to perceive the outcome experience as the uncovering of a “hidden” part of itself? Our brain will always deliver! Ultimately, how many use ‘healing’ feels like a red-herring, a distraction from accepting that, materially, we only ‘heal’ when we’re connected, supported, & nourished in community w/ others & nature. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/08/23/opinion/psychedelics-mdma-mental-health.html

A good reference to have if you work with ocean sustainability, now published as an open source document: the assessments and action roadmaps by the High Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy (Ocean Panel) https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-031-16277-0

Hello SOP team: PIG RFC forthcoming. Question: our proposal falls perfectly under the purview of GDI in Switzerland - which industry-wise (food/biomanufacturing) & location-wise (we’re in Berlin) is also ideal us. Would you want to see more specific direction on how we’d involve them?
