Open ended cast on token gated content. - any good examples? - what kind of content shouldn't be token gated? - what's the bear case? - what kind of content should be gated? - is it basically a web3 paywall? - why should creators use gated content? - what does a good ux look like? Would love to hear any thoughts

For me the point isn't as much about the token *gating* as much as the token *holding* Yesterday I relaunched gan.gg/designer. Originally this was on gumroad (bit.ly/condensedbook), where I sold about 300 copies But where are they now? How do I reach them? What version of the book do the have?

Three examples: - coinage.media - dirt.fyi - signal.forefront.club The bear case I always hear is that you can paywall without tokens already Creators should use gated content to earn income and reward their biggest supporters. Tokens/nfts do provenance better than web2 paywalls

it solves for freerider problem in public goods. knowledge base that has curation cost should be gated, as well as code that has significant development & testing costs. bear case is disenfranchisement of public contribution. nonfinancial tokens (or proofs) are best. good ux is abstracting away token-getting.

I prefer soft gating w tokens. Allow access to anyone but token holders get perks

Personally more bullish on token-gated spaces* than token-gated content, but any subscription w/ "exclusive content" could utilize token-gating. Bankless debrief episodes & exclusive articles are a good example. Artists can gate sketches; writers can gate drafts. Tokens are just tools for recognizing & rewarding fans.
