i think so and also afaik developers can run their own wc service but i doubt anybody does that these days

The problem is that the frontend configures WalletConnect, so consumers can't choose which wc relay to use (the way they can with wallets, etc). WalletConnect is too tightly coupled with frontends, it's increasingly a big problem.

yes, afaik the work is on the dapp developer, but im really out of the depth here, i just read some random docs 2 years ago

may have totally changed in v2

I assume that would require a separate Integration for a dapp…?
