my highest conviction prediction right now is that ai will enable millions of solo entrepreneurs and small teams to rebuild and compete with all existing saas giants there are opportunities lying on the ground everywhere, the closer to pure software the easier for a small team to just go after it and scale a docusign competitor to $1m arr not as sexy as raising a huge round for your crypto or ai startup but will get you a house wherever you want

think the problem is that this ’age’ will last 2-3 years given any kind of compounding ai trajectory then we’re in a post-scarcity world and your saas is worthless

it’s not about building another docusign, but to market it such that you can take a million home - which especially devs will struggle and the market can be overflooded already which makes it a much higher effort with time

100%, no need to raise millions or hire huge teams, there are tons of low hanging opportunities where micro teams can compete in and undercut due to low expenses

Also underappreciated from a lot of founders: $1M ARR can be sexy AF if your team is small enough.

Assuming true, what will the impact on early funding be? Have to imagine the closer to software only a project’s offerings are the more exposed traditional capital formation is to disruption.

but if everyone has access to the same ai tools & reap the same productivity boosts, wouldn't funded teams still be able to move faster? seems like venture backed small teams would prob still outperform bootstrapped teams at scale

i agree that ai makes small teams competitive with bigger ones, but why do you think ai would inherently enable a differentiated offering to an entrenched incumbent like docusign?

this resonates, but has the thread of chatgpt & microsoft being the defacto SaaS creators. Already seen a bunch of GPT wrappers pivot or change business with every new chatgpt upgrade..
