Why is the aesthetic of gyms, even the good ones, always so lifeless? Always black and grey and white everywhere. I want fans blowing air in my face at 12 km/h and a simulation of running along a forest path in a magical fantasy world .... or at least some plants.

gym bros and bro-ettes probably don’t think about aesthetics much. also, easier to clean

there is a gym chain in germany (elements) which is super good and has a lot of plants (even huge walls full of plants to have better air) and has some kind of gamified circle training systems where you workout in front of a screen which shows you live if you're doing the excersise right or not (they call it egym circle) and every cardio machine has a monitor too with changable simulation tracks in the nature with different height levels to reach etc. maybe there are similar ones using those kind of systems at your place (egym) 👍

I think new ones tend to experiment and actually add plants, afaik, there’s one with plants in Kyiv. If I would do crossfit I’d probably like seeing trees as I am catching my breath between sets, but with powerlifting it’s all about large weights and adrenaline hit. I’d need something that makes an adrenaline rush, and the feeling is that trees, nature can’t give it.

I recently started going to a Muay Thai gym and it’s the real deal. Squat rack, ring, tiger on the wall. Great workout too

As a matter of fact, I signed up for what was advertised as a “jungle gym” to get that natural environment, and feel like I’ve been bamboozled

Anyone want to start a gym built around the idea of integrating extensive plant life everywhere? We’ll call it “Jungle Gym”

the black and white simplicity is actually the aesthetic (you can see this in men's fitness or hardcore training magazines etc) it's the american football gridiron ideal — it's just you and some weights and no distractions

depend on what u do at gym...when im lifting weights i don't really care. running, however, does feel better outside, e.g. on a trail, or simulating to be on a trail. actually on a trail > simulating on a trail
