Did the US founders have strong opinions about strong encryption? As it turns out, they did: https://www.justsecurity.org/77383/encryption-originalism/

I still don’t know why they cut that giant chihuahua—I know it isn’t canon but it would’ve been epic

What are the practical barriers to building an unstoppable decentralized autonomous Wikileaks successor? Is anyone working toward it already?

Can someone explain the utility here? 10 warps to the most convincing answer, or failing that, the funniest one.

Internet arcana from over 3 decades ago—read it and know the history of your forbearers (this is the 1991 variant—newer ones erased quite a bit of it as I recall, compare if you wish and correct me you think I’m wrong and you are so inclined) Cheers!!! 🫡 http://www.catb.org/jargon/oldversions/jarg262.txt

P1: Life cannot escape or subvert the 2nd law of thermodynamics, which asserts that entropy cannot be decreased in a closed system P2: Life’s Sisyphean drive to accumulate ordered, useful energy accelerates increased entropy in the long run Hypothesis: life is an emergent phenomenon of entropy—not a counterforce

The reasoning “Tornado Cash was run like a company” is a nonsensical excuse to pin criminal sanctions on him and Roman Running a project like a company is a time-tested approach to shipping code What would “not running it like a company” even look like? My guess is “not shipping code” 🤡🌎🐂💩

If you haven’t read (or in the linked case, listened to) The Great Taking by David Rogers Webb—I strongly recommend doing so ASAP The linked audiobook is narrated by an AI cloned from Orson Welles’ voice, so it’s a great way to confront the material the first time cc: /law-policy https://youtu.be/b4-IC2rQ-gE

You all will probably also find this thread I’m building at /cypherpunk interesting The subject? A strategy paper for a Carnegie Endowment for International Peace project called FinCyber It reads like a euphemized veiled reference to the global version of Chokepoint 2.0 https://warpcast.com/designheretic/0x3b062099

This paper also contains an appendix of (literally) hundreds of “stakeholders” who afaik never talk about their involvement publicly (more screenshots in replies)

The paper referenced here is the closest thing to an outline of Operation Chokepoint 2.0 that I have yet encountered. Check out the Appendices for a project timeline that coincides perfectly with a December 2020 launch date More posts to follow as I continue to dig in to the paper’s cited sources and referenced orgs

This is an impressive crypto policy document in that it manages to avoid openly declaring its purpose or target while very effectively alluding to it https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tEMBF1n8eVhxTOO5gVF9_zjGhuveiwNT/view
