If even one culture can keep fertility rates high while others go low, it will end up dominating population-wise.

I sort of agree, optimized consumption on its own could be considered an optimistic degrowth.

In a sense, yes but should this really be termed "degrowth" though? I've seen a lot of techno-optimists argue that growth is all about using a given finite set of resources in intelligent ways to produce more.

Cannot agree any more, only human's basic needs will be really consumed. While the entertainment stuff can be just virtual and save resources
