Should we rebrand Warpcast to Farcaster? We separated Warpcast (the app) from Farcaster (the protocol) a few years ago. We've heard from many new users that this is very, very confusing. People hear about Farcaster, search in the app store, can't find anything called Farcaster and then churn.

Why is this the condition to open sourcing the client?

Well that changes things. I'd be happy with whatever name you give it if it were open source.

was gonna vote no but having a permissive oss client as the namesake of the protocol makes sense and aligns incentives in my mind

rebrand to Farcaster and open sourcing client is interesting X now has impressive product velocity and original FC selling points reduced with Elon running X an Android-style strategy with Warpcast might change that

This is a RE-RE-brand, as the app was also called Farcaster at its first iteration. What I'm seeing is that there's a solid appetite for open-sourcing, because people anticipate better optics. I've been pushing for open sourcing, less gating, and more permissionless actions for years, with a bit of success in opening some things up but still, super slow and with reluctance, to the point that many critics who insisted on saying this project is pretty closed did appear credible numerous times.

If this is the case, then I see no/little downside to consolidating, unless you think it will discourage client development even further Personally, have always preferred farcaster to Warpcast as a name

i dont care what you name it, just open source the client, it's crazy all it takes is a branding pivot for open sourcing the client to finally gain traction and be taken seriously
