 1. Click create channel in the left sidebar (mobile)
2. Choose a unique name  
3. Pay the channel fee in warps   

If you don’t see it, try updating. If you don’t have warps, get some on web.

Earn warps for running popular channels! 

Starting next week, we'll give rewards to the most active and popular channels. Details coming soon.

Creators will get tools to curate their channels: 

- Boosts, to promote great content 
- Hide, to stop recommending less interesting content in channel feeds
- SpamDetectionSystem® to keep out bots, spammers and low-effort casts  

And more coming soon!

Channels are (partially) decentralized.   

- Casts are available on the protocol.
- Metadata is available over a Warpcast API   
- Features like boost and hide not available outside Warpcast yet. 

We commit to decentralizing as much as possible if channels become popular over the next few months.

Why do channels cost warps? 

Just like domain names, we're adding a fee to discourage people from squatting popular names. 

Some part of the fees will be distributed back to popular channels. More details next week.

Yep, its for the ability to moderate the channel in warpcast

Aren't channels permissionless? Assuming then this fee is for priority distribution in the WC app but unaffected at protocol level?

If you want to post in a channel, you can just navigate to it and hit cast which will set the right parent_url for that channel

Quick q: will I be able to manually set the parent_url if I create a channel in Warpcast?

- if well intentioned and no activity for a while, we'll take it back if someone else asks for it later and refund the remaining warps for the year 

- if obviously malicious (impersonation or registering lots of empty channels) we won't refund when we take it back
