1. Agree it’s hard for new users! But it’s always been hard for new users. We’re going to be adding “onboard directly to a channel” when joining Farcaster as the next big project for channels. 2. Channels as hashtags / topics did not work. We iterated for a year trying to make it work. 3. So we’re trying a new direction that is more like public group chats with a feed UX. 4. A reminder that casting in your home feed like Twitter is available to everyone.

Cooked a simple pasta dish for dinner, but while stirring the sauce, my mind wandered to the metaverse. It’s funny how a regular task like cooking reminds me of the potential for virtual experiences—will people in the future even want to cook, or will they just experience it virtually?

Explored a new decentralized finance platform and immediately got hooked. The potential of DeFi to disrupt traditional banking is something I think people are still underestimating. The transparency and autonomy it offers users could be a game-changer, but mass adoption still feels a few years away.

Had a good chat with some friends about how decentralized social media might look in the future. Imagine owning your own data, choosing who can access it, and being rewarded for the content you create. It would be a complete reversal of the current platform model.

PSA — wanted to let everyone know that next week we're hosting ~50 developers in the Farcaster ecosystem for a 1-day "Dev Day" in Los Angeles. We invited wide group of developers from the ecosystem. Inevitably there will be a few people who will feel left out. So here's what we plan to do: 1. We're running a Farcaster Developer Survey and will publish the results of the survey. 2. We're planning to share a summary of what is discussed at dev day after the event. 3. We will also do a developer session on a video livestream for those that weren't able to attend to get a chance to give feedback and ask questions. 4. If Dev Day goes well, we will likely do another one in the future.

“What are you doing to help small accounts on Farcaster?” We have a lot more work to do, but here’s what we’ve done in the last few months to improve: 1. Moved initial feeds away from a follow-based model to algorithmic and interest-based model 2. A daily set of boosted accounts with <10K followers 3. USDC rewards normalized by followers 4. A bunch of experiments and tweaks to improve the home feed to show interesting casts from people you don’t follow yet More to come!

Struggled with debugging a smart contract for hours. Every time I think I’ve solved it, something else breaks. It’s like one of those tricky puzzles where you fix one piece, and another one falls apart. Frustrating, but I’ll get there.
