1. Agree it’s hard for new users! But it’s always been hard for new users. We’re going to be adding “onboard directly to a channel” when joining Farcaster as the next big project for channels. 2. Channels as hashtags / topics did not work. We iterated for a year trying to make it work. 3. So we’re trying a new direction that is more like public group chats with a feed UX. 4. A reminder that casting in your home feed like Twitter is available to everyone.

Why does it need to be this hard for new users? For a social product, the friction for new users really prevents network effects from helping grow the platform and spread across social circles

Why is there no option in the feeds to see cast as it happens? I keep seeing cast after several hour's.

I don’t even know where to start if I was going to bring a brand new user over to warpcast anymore. Feeling a bit defeated with the latest round of changes. For power users it’s a no brainer move but catering to power users is really the last thing wc needs to do. This place needs new people more than ever and now it’s harder than ever for them to join and understand everything.

Is it possible to keep both options open, exclusive channels relating to different topics , owners and mods have control over that while also having free public one's for new user's to find their feet and interact with people of like minds based on a topic

No denying it’s hard for new users, but what is the alternative? Let this place be raided by bots and spammers? I think it’s a bold and positive change and gonna get way better in time.

Very glad to hear #1. Enables channels to sponsor sign ups for specific users, and guarantees their membership to the channel on sign up. Will be an excellent Lego

Really really like all of these. I can see the evolution now that you explained it like that. Thanks Dan!

Was the change in point four made to adapt to the channel? Are the conditions for appearing in others' feeds based on algorithmic recommendations or influenced by reactions from people they follow?

A better balance would be public channels where anyone can engage, and private channels where posts are hidden, so I'm not seeing interesting content where I can't read comments or reply without spending time and/or money and losing all desire to engage.

Genuine questions… will all these changes affect getting new users?? It might, eventually leading to people leaving. But I also agree this move will do good long term. Overall I’m positive with the whole scenerio. Would it have been possible to take another approach to this?? Like, having moderators who work solely on this, send out warnings who spam channel or cast low effort / unrelated stuff.

I'm not a new user, but all my posts I ever did in channels have been deleted with this one change. I understand the new direction but this is respectless and yeah I'm kind of pissed.
