Ending of that first season was a disappointment tbf. Thought the English guys character arc would've lead him to develop some samurai skills. Opportunity missed.

Fair rating. That show was way overhyped. Was a fun binge. I am concerned if this is the best of the best. I'd like to see more original IP break through on the TV side since cinema is mostly licensed IP rehashes now. I'd like to see Amazon throw $100 mil on some original IP that isn't a Mr. Beast game show.

Shogun was alright at best, frfr, too much Japanese culture's lore explanation, feels very similar to Chinese tv series, too busy on grandstanding.

Episode 8 of Shogun was a 10/10. The last two episodes were mid, but as a whole, it was definitely the best show this year. Everything else these days is either pandering, unwanted spinoffs, or trying to tease a 2nd season. Shogun finally created a self-contained story with compelling characters.
