Honestly I dont think they fear it any more than they fear the idea of Santa Claus or Zeus – it seems unthreatening to them bc it's so obvious that it's not true

Yeah it's just a pattern, not prescription.

More importantly though I've learned (from mistakes) is that whether someone has the urge to refute or not, it is not the right spirit. Different frameworks are effective for different people – don't tear down what you can't replace with something better.
