haven’t seen chatter here about Colossal Bioscience’s $200M fundraise cofounded by genetics godfather George Church, the startup’s solution is “de-extinction yes, the goal is to resurrect extinct species lots of ethical/ecological considerations, but i see value in a platform that includes ancestral DNA

Idk personally didn’t think to post about it as it’s been around for ages so the raise was more of a capital story than science or new tech story. If anything I was glad to see a biotech financial story that isn’t something cataclysmic. Generally speaking, I think Church is on the right side of ethics; critical but not overly cautious, innovative yet respectful and open-minded. In Regenesis for example, the way he talks about Venter’s work is what you’d hope for from someone growing the futures.
