men, how often do you worry about false accusations from women? i worry about that for my brothers, as much as i worry for women getting taken advantage by men. what happened here is a net negative for both genders. powerful read, particularly the end, from Bryan Johnson x.com/bryan_johnson/status/1734257098119356900

it’s not false accusations per se, its surprise reperspectivizing a past incident in a way that’s super uncharitable. incidents thought long forgiven or laughed off suddenly very publicly unforgiven, etc. it’s a sense of all wounds being reopenable at any moment.

I’ve had exactly one ex that fell far on the “crazy enough to do anything” side of the spectrum. I’d expect she would have no problem with false accusations. So I don’t consider it a zero probability thing, but pretty close.

I've had false accusations and had friends go through them. They're harrowing. I also think it makes sense for the priors to favor women, especially in the context of power imbalance. I think the only hope is socially we learn to await court verdicts before updating our assessments of people.

Never I do have a close friend that had their reputation ruined in one of our social circles not necessarily due to a false accusation, but what is now broadly agreed upon as a gross exaggeration. It was very stressful

I don't worry much, but I also haven't had or known anyone who's had this happen to them, so maybe I'm just being naive. That said I empathize with Johnson—the information war is real. And the way we adjudicate seemingly every issue via the populist courtroom of the internet is profoundly unhealthy to society.

While there is a societal problem with false accusations, I think as long as you always conduct yourself as a polite and respectful man, no one would view any false accusations as credible. Therefore, as long as you always treat women (and everyone) well, you shouldn’t have to worry about it.

I'm aware that it could happen but I hope that I've built up enough good reputation to counter any rumors. I hate that any false allegations cause real victims to not be believed.
