4. I used to be a 3, basically a determinist with a little wriggle room for a soul/spirituality/consciousness. But the older I get and the more I read, the harder it becomes to justify that spark of self determination; and the more it seems to be a very convincing illusion. Human are very good at rationalisations.

3. Hard determinism logically feels like the most scientific answer, but quantum mechanics have opened up the door of unknowns to such a large degree that I have to leave room for flexibility.

3 I believe there's a lot of room in the human consciousness for free will, but only within the confines of their neurology, genetics, nervous system, childhood, etc

3. Even if metaphysics tell us that things are deterministic (to a degree), there's enough entropy and variability in the world of atoms which make up the chemical composition of our brains, that we're still able to exert some form of free will by actuating this little box full of beautiful grey matter.

4 - even quantum woo woo implies existence of a soul. Until there is evidence of that, the rational view is to be a determinist.

3 We have free will to choose how we perceive events that may be out of our control or determined by other factors (physiological/psychological/etc)

4 answering literally, it's hard to imagine any room for free will when true randomness has never been shown/observed but... it's obviously still useful to live day to day with a sense of agency even if that's not technically correct

3 I'd go further and suggest 4 is physically, but inarticulably, more true. but it helps in approximate sense to see humans as nondeterministic machines.

i like to believe i myself have free will, its very empowering. i find that treating others more deterministically allows me to be more empathetic.

1. I think we all have ultimately free will and we can shape our trajectory pretty much how ever we like. That still doesnt mean its always easy.

We are as free as sea turtles engaging in natal homing. Every atom is influenced by the laws of the universe known or unknown and behaves within the confines of those laws. Much like the determined path of the sea turtles might be more about adhering to a cosmic script of the universe.
