This week I built IPDB, a decentralized database concept using Base, IPFS, and PGlite.

I would say this is still a pretty rough proof of concept and won’t be a drop in replacement for something like Supabase, but the possibility is out there 👀

can i implement it right away? 👀

(could this be an alternative to supabase for example? im following a react native tutorial and it uses that)

This is really cool. Is it practical to download and store the entire db like this for real apps?

How long did it take you to build it?

Perhaps more technically accurate would be backups pinned to nodes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Each node that pins has a copy of the file

But IPFS is a cache and distribution mechanism, not a storage. How can it be a backup?

Super cool! I used OrbitDB a few years ago and was super excited by the promise of distributed databases. Will definitely check this out in a bit! Excited to learn about the on chain mechanism
