been trying to mostly ignore the noise around the future of software engineering as a career but i think this is a good model. high agency people (technical and non-technical) will 100x. the rest will basically become obsolete over time

large companies move slower, but i can definitely see a future where startups shift to hiring collaborators with more agency vs employees that take tasks and output PRs

Hard to say if it will be this extreme, but if you average this together with the people saying that all the programming jobs will disappear, you have a reasonable estimate of what we know for sure about the future of programming as a career: nothing.

i don't buy either extreme: programmers won't disappear, but it's disingenuous to think nothing will happen to them
