Who are historical figures who deserve a better (or any!) biography? Could be anyone from a 20th century figure to someone further back in history.

Arthur Guinness. Negotiated a 9000 year lease, invented the modern workplace campus, cared deeply about his workers, made great beer, and left an incredible legacy. Mansfield’s “The Search for God and Guinness” is great but I want more.

The tragedy of Pedro Albizu Campos. Father of the Puerto Rican independence movement, he was known as “el Maestro.” Campos fought in WWI, was Harvard educated, spoke 6 languages, and was also involved in the struggle for Irish independence. There is evidence that the US exposed him to radiation while imprisoned.

In Herodotus's 'The Histories' there is a conspiracy to murder the magus who usurped the Persian throne (III. 79-84) After decapitating the magus, three men debate the future of the Persian empire: democracy (Otanes) v oligarchy (Megabyzus) v monarchy (Darius) Otanes strikes the greatest deal ever; few know about him

Would love one about FDR’s anti-colonial streak and how his early death set the stage for the next 30 years of conflict for the US
