I do think ETH will be fine, I just struggle with the case for owning it vs BTC/SOL, and haven’t heard a good case for why it’s bullish *against* those assets. We saw like a week post-election where it outperformed, and then ETHBTC got sent back down to new lows. Would be keen to hear a material case for ETHBTC or ETHSOL being green over the next 1y

Over a long enough time > say beyond the next 3-6 months it can perform well because of sustained ecosystem growth and the capacity to be deflationary. Think the ETFs will also become more attractive at btc runs and then has less upside… Nah probability not this as the speculation of nation states and btw reserve will drive narrative for quite awhile. I do wonder how the inflationary role of solana at the moment might actually be helping growth as long as there is energy to extend out the tail of assets and keep your sol circulating rather than swapping to stables. If sol is becoming more numerous, yet you keep it in the system it helps fuel growth. Whenever this becomes a false reality then the vibes will shift. When this is, I have no idea.

i don’t know about within the next one year, (and i am biased bc i’ve always loved eth and only ‘respected’ btc) but imo long term there is way more upside to eth and currently the ethbtc ratio looks buyable even though it certainly could go lower short term btc got a little exciting when they dabbled with ordinals etc but still seems very limited to “digital gold only” and to me asic mining pushes toward less decentralization due to economies of scale (&top 5 mining pools control >60% hash rate). imo renewable energy push is one of the only redeeming potential benefits of btc long term beyond store of wealth eth the has potential to upgrade or replace almost everything i can think of at some point these differences will reflect in price, i believe pardon the mobile chart

this post sums it up nicely: https://x.com/fejau_inc/status/1857521633688240613 on a long time horizon (5+ years), I’m confident that ETH will perform well. but it’s pretty clear that it’s not going to outperform this cycle. SOL was very clearly a better asset to hold over the last year+, but medium to long term it will suffer from high inflation (7-8%) and big unlocks. and given the recent institutional/gov adoption of BTC, it’s pretty hard to justify holding ETH in its place. only thing that could maybe save it this cycle is the ETFs really picking up steam.

BTC still has no solution for electronic waste. People in my proximity care about that. ETH ultrasound narrative hasn't caught on in mainstream or even near mainstream audience. Base is a prime example how well everything works and how easy it is to move funds, buy and use stuff.

SOL Memecoin complex is bridging to Base to play memecoins…. And all memes are traded against ETH in DeFi, so higher TVLs and greater demand for ETH going forward
