What's your process for buying/trying new running shoes? Kinda hard to figure it out when you only really can feel the effect of them on a long-ish run. I keep looking at all the shoes available and just feel stumped.

Like after a year of active running, I'm still not sure whether I have the best shoe for my needs. Mostly taking out asics nimbus 25 easy + long runs and new balance rebel v3 for faster runs. Want to try Altra, but also, don't like just buying shoes and having to toss them after like 20-50km if they hurt/suck. :/

I’d find a store that specializes in running. They should do a basic assessment of your stability to narrow down the options, then get you on a treadmill so you can try them out and they can observe how each affects your form.

Easy for me. I just stick with the brand and model I’m used to. I know my feet are comfortable with them.

Believe in the Run (YT) have good reviews. Yet, everyone's feet and preferences are different of course. Figured out after years of running in Nikes that New Balance fit me better (the Rebel for speed runs and More for long runs). The Rebel was love at first sight; just felt fun and fast to run in

Running Clubs, talking to other avid runners, + I find running shoe reviews from YouTube helpful. I need to find the link but there's a guy that does 100 miles in a show before he reviews it. That's pretty helpful
