How do you think about fostering your child's curiosity without putting them at risk of things you know will harm them? (i.e. touching a hot stove, playing too close to the street)

It might be pedantic, but i’ve always focused on preventing harm, not pain. Running into the street? Hell no. Playing “swords” with pool noodles? Go for it, and what do we learn by getting whacked in the face?

I like to tell them how I discovered something in my childhood. then tell them: "you now know what happens, go for it if you want to try". 99% of the time they avoid anything potentially harmful for them.

Depends on the consequences of getting hurt. Climb? Go for it. Jump off the cliff into the water? Let's see how deep it is. Wander off the tiny island after setting up the tent? Go & explore It's about your believed probability that harm will occur and how painful it will be
