Wow that's incredibly nice of them to do! At a fairly large cost too, that's really considerate of them.
Planning ahead for things like this can be hard, and I think important to note that it's sometimes not possible. And you do what you can.
My daughter passed in December, and my wife and I were only able to get a double space for her and for my wife in the future.
Obviously I had never considered what our grave setup would be. I would have also loved to have a space there. But even if I can't be, I'm glad my wife can be laid with her.
And, on the other hand, if I were there, I wouldn't be with our other future children. So it's a complicated thing.
If and when possible, planning it out in advance, with a few thousand dollars saved, is worth it.
