Nominating @esteez.eth for #farcasterrpgfspring2025 for her incredible work leading Farcon 2025 - one of the most ambitious community-led efforts we’ve seen in the Farcaster ecosystem. Emma led the entire production from end to end: venue scouting nearly a year out, securing sponsorships, managing budgets, designing programming, and coordinating a team of volunteers across time zones. The result? Three official Farcon events, 50+ community-led side events, and a multi-day experience that brought Farcasters from around the world together IRL. But what made it special wasn’t just the scale - it was the curation. Emma set a high-trust tone and created moments that felt generous, meaningful, and deeply community-first. From spicy hot wings to mainstage talks, product demos, and best-in-class NYC catering, every detail reflected thought and care. Farcon 2025 wasn’t just a conference - it was a proof of concept for how decentralized gatherings can be both expansive and grounded. And Emma made it happen.

my unsurprising take: in-person meetings are better. they hold a depth of communication that screens rarely capture. video calls are powerful tools — global collaboration, telehealth, friendships across time zones… but nothing replaces sitting next to someone. covid taught us that. it also reshaped our cities. in nyc, outdoor dining sheds appeared overnight. not perfect, but they gave people a place to be together. now the sheds are mostly gone, but the desire to gather hasn’t disappeared. more restaurants have real outdoor tables now. the system adjusted to human need. i think we’re entering a new phase of craving IRL. not just events, but presence. rituals. shared air and unscripted conversation. zoom has its place—sometimes the distance is useful, even necessary. but for trust, collaboration, and care? IRL still wins. and it always will, unless VR learns to replicate smell, silence, and those tiny glances that say more than words.
