Today I visited a bunch of government run facilities: a public park, a library, and a community center near my house. I never thought of visiting these places because I haven’t really needed a low cost third space. Now that I do, I recognize the enormous value it brings to my community and I am grateful to have all of the above within walking distance.

So many great programs that are under utilized in the spaces. Library's are one of the best center resources for all the others

Libraries and parks are goated even when you don’t necessarily need a low cost third space.

having a kid made me appreciate these places a lot more, because it is sooooo necessary for us to leave the house for everyone's sanity. and most of the places I used to spend money to hang out are not very toddler-compatible!

You can tell a lot about society based on their libraries. I used to go to libraries in every country I travelled. Reliable source of internet. In Japan I had to pay to get in. In France I couldn’t go on weekends nor the entire month of August. It makes me appreciate the library system we have here in Toronto.
