Today I visited a bunch of government run facilities: a public park, a library, and a community center near my house.

I never thought of visiting these places because I haven’t really needed a low cost third space. Now that I do, I recognize the enormous value it brings to my community and I am grateful to have all of the above within walking distance.

having a kid made me appreciate these places a lot more, because it is sooooo necessary for us to leave the house for everyone's sanity. and most of the places I used to spend money to hang out are not very toddler-compatible!
