ETH has underperformed this cycle so far. Why?

Possibly that: Solana is getting greater share of casino returns (memecoins) and Bitcoin is getting greater share of popular awareness (Trump speeches)

Uncertainty would be my bet. There's a lot on the roadmap, but I'm confident that the protocol agility will win out in the end.

I've been an ETH maxi since I first got into blockchain, but its complexity can hinder mainstream adoption. Sending ETH cheaply and easily from point A to B is often frustrating due to network confusion. Unlike SOL, which is straightforward with no L1 or L2 distinctions, ETH can be a hassle.

Account abstraction and L2 composability didn't get fixed fast enough so Solana ate our lunch. Eth's focus on decentralization is not a short term value generator, not like meme coin casinos. People simply don't care about lofty ideals like decentralization until the pressure is on. The pressure will come, but it's not obviously imminent

First why do you say it has underperformed? From low it's up 180% currently and that's mainly because Grayscale has been selling Eth everyday since the ETF was approved

Ethereum is losing it’s cool lately and the brand is getting diluted by L2 and the general confusion of what is this supposed to become.

- Blob update has collapsed price to earnings ratio - L2s as shards is high risk roadmap - web3 growth thesis will require a lot of heavy lifting to take off (as seen with FC‘s growth) - Other coins like BTC have simpler to understand value prop for retail

One aspect is ETH ETF launch, which unlocked Grayscale ETHE outflows. BTC was also down for two weeks after its ETF launch. That's temporary of course, and coincided with the macro dump, Jump unwinding, ... The tech is just as strong as before, legal clarity gained. Might be a great buying opportunity.

Vastly more supply overhang than Solana and Bitcoin.

Against Bitcoin - companies and politicians are just finally starting to grok it. It'll be the first digital asset on most balance sheets. Within crypto - to be that Ethereum is so many things that it's hard to define. Unfortunate to see the underperformance but the internet economy is predominately being built on ETH.
