Does ENS need to create its own L2 chain or nah? I want to use my .eth address everywhere.

why are you thinking L2 chain for pure ENS? what would be the benefits? how would that make ens resolution available everywhere?

No, but I think there should be some kind of CCIP cross chain protocol to share the info from the L1. Honestly, I’d even sign an L1 transaction if I could list all the addresses across chains I want to reverse record to my ENS.

Your cast reads like it is implicit to not be able to use your ENS everywhere if they were to run their own chain. I am not sure why this would be the case. If they have technical reasons to run an L2 they should go ahead. I think their vision is to let ENS eat the world in any event.

maybe checkout other naming services built on cheaper & faster rails? or just use one of their off-chain names if you cant afford ETH transactions anymore? creating an L2 just for a few contracts is insane lmao.

I mean your ability to use it everywhere is just a matter of platforms integrating ENS no? Don't see how an own L2 would help

Yes please, I need new ENS addresses and ETH main net is way to expensive with all these ERC404 shenanigans going on

I think ENS needs to make its own orbital L3 hyperchain SDK ICIP NSFW and then it’ll be fine

personally I would prefer end users stop touching L1 at all, it’s too expensive.

It’s worth considering. In the future, the gas fees alone for registration (and renewals) at the L1 could become prohibitive. Now is the time to research.
