i wouldn't exclude bots from calculations, but it would be an interesting toggle for sure.

Doesn't matter. The goal is to identify legitimate bots so they can be excluded from reputation calculations. This way they can't be abused by users (bots or humans).

solid idea. i don't think 99% of the bots would self register, but the big ones would. still, bots need diff rules to play by.

Sorry, context is to deal with bots having high reputation which then gets abused by people spamming these bots for response messages =>engagement. Idea is to allow bots to opt out of reputation calculations thru self identification. Of course some legit bots may disagree and want e.g. an allowance....

I assume a bot that doesn't self-identify is unaware, doesn't care, or is trying to deceive at some level (incl normal engineering-style robustness testing) 

It won't help with the reply bots. It will help with people abusing legitimate bots for reputation.

Great idea! Would definitely stop at least some of the abuse! Every little helps!

yes that would be amazing! i just finished unfollowing almost all accounts that were 'casts like a bot' -- grateful for @botornot but it would be great if we weren't penalized via openrank lol
