The 3 biggest social apps seem to be: - Twitter: text first - Instagram: image first - TikTok: video first I still believe that there is a play for an audio first social media. Clubhouse got close. Podcasts and audiobooks are very highly consumed content, why isn’t this experience social?

Podcasts and audiobooks are parasocial and great for times when you can’t talk.

Twitter Spaces are killing it, both for things like morning news and also ad hoc interviews and events.

i think the default mindset for audio (podcasts & audiobooks) is more of a "one-way" information dissemination mode. which is arguably very different from the ones you mentioned: twitter: RT/reply/tweet TikTok & IG: post/like

I think audio consumption is so varied it makes it challenging - some people don’t want real time audio

I think it’s tough because something like 75% of people consume social media without sound on. Perhaps with fc have a dedicated audio channel could solve that because people could go directly to the source when they have the ability to listen and/or speak

Text can be scanned, images can be quickly flipped through, and video can convey a ton of information / stimulation in a short amount of time. All make the consumption experience easy > higher views > % of views convert to engagement > engagement encourages more posting. Hard to grow to B scale without this flywheel

I think it’s a feature on top of an existing social graph rather than product in its own category. More specifically though, I think a feed focused on live audio on Farcaster would do well

because an audio-first social media will always lose to a social media that is video first... video-first is just audio-first but way more engaging and provides more latitude for content creators and advertisers

I think it's important that TikTok isn't really a "social" network, it's a user-generated content app. Instagram is moving in that direction too. The world of podcasts is like a decentralized, audio-only version of TikTok more than TikTok is like a short-form video version of Facebook.

Interesting, what about comments on the tracks like what SoundCloud does?
