My biggest prejudice is against the automobile, we must lay new track and bore tunnels constantly

I think this is the double bind of modernity. Progress means more cogs, less contemplative drives into the sunset 

But there’s a reason NYC is America’s hottest, best dressed city, the beating heart of global capital. The subway.

funny thing about living in nyc was reading some random social media post about how its a hellscape filled with random crime vs. riding the subway downtime and its full of wall st people and random rich old ladys rocking handbags worth more than my annual rent

I think it’s important to not put a cap on innovation. I see the automobile as a thoroughfare to the next great feat of human engineering. A conduit maybe even. Though, Not the only one and far from the best.

Laying track and boring tunnels are job creating opportunities. That's their purpose. Servicing vehicles to get from point A to point B is second.

But aren't like subways primarily in tunnels and running on tracks? (Me a rural American with no idea of actual big city life)
