I thought it would be fun to do a little re-introduction since it’s been a while :) I’m Galazio - I started using Warpcast in 2023 just before attending FarCon #1 in Boston. With the encouragement of the people I met there, I kept casting about the things I love even though I didn’t have a technical background. Casting has helped me meet some wonderful friends! 💜 I love to cook and I’m planning Season 2 of Galazio Kitchen now 🍋 I’m editing my first novel and write in my journal every day. Road trips are my favorite and my goal is to visit all 63 US National Parks (51 visited so far!) In the spring and summer I’ll be casting more about gardening.🌷 I have a paragraph newsletter where I post recipes as well as photos and notes about my daily life in New England. Lately, I've been more active on Bluesky (different topic, different anon), and it's growing pretty fast. Given Elon has oriented Twitter towards anti-intellectualism, certain communities have moved wholesale already, particularly academia related. It's basically just Twitter without the bloat, but slower still... Farcaster is more interesting to me, but Bluesky has won the attention game - no one knows Farcaster exists outside the niche crypto crowd.

One reason that I have been enjoying using Farcaster is that I like interacting with tech people as they are generally not the type of people in my existing personal networks. They inhabit a very different world, think about different things, communicate in different fashion etc. That’s interesting to me intellectually and also helps gives me a broader perspective. We all have different strengths, character traits, and life experiences. It’s good for cross-disciplinary relationships to emerge so that we can leverage our respective strengths to various positive social ends. One of the major problems in society is siloization of expertise along with cultural polarization. There should be a harmonious and constructive synthesis between the tech world and the world of civil society and culture.

Been solo parenting since Sunday while the wife was on a work trip in Mexico City. She returned with COVID (test turned positive almost immediately) and is now isolating in our bedroom. Solo parenting will continue. Spent 4 hours driving kids today and then had to take one of them to urgent care for an arm injury. About to pass out.
