What’s one thing Farcaster should do better ?

Are there applications that were good in 2014/2017/2021 Ethereum that you are no longer excited about today?

The big one is payments. That was what originally interested me, even before Ethereum existed, and the main reason was there was a big gap to fill. Over the last decade, fintech has basically filled it for most people. Now, through most of Europe, Africa and Asia, we have great payment apps and standards where payments are extremely easy, free and instant. There are still some niches where crypto does well - particularly access to USD in countries where its restricted, and cross-border transfers in some countries where that's difficult, but by and large, crypto payments are destined to be a shrinking niche. 

The other one is social, and on a related note, DAOs - both of those things benefit much less from Ethereum than I had once thought.

Other things like core DeFi, SoV, I'm still about as excited about them as I always was, however it's important to acknowledge that the main growth phase for those things are over.

Converse - maybe stuff like EVE Frontier, collaborative environments etc.

As for what people should be building - ZK has many usecases beyond blockchain. The most impactful thing I'd like to see is government registries ZK-fied or something similar, so information can be verified without leaking anything.

Something more like 2016-20 era. Sure, tons of scams and grifts going around, a lot of toxicity without much civility, but the mainstream, majoritarian culture was not one of fighting, degeneracy and "financial nihilism" as some call it, not to mention the constant bigotry and such

Instead, a more optimistic discourse about applications, usecases, how crypto can be net positive for the world and how the many negative effects can be minimized, welcoming to a diverse crowd with different opinion; and definitely not holding up grifters, opportunists and scammers to the pedestal

Not sure when I first heard about it, maybe sometime in 2022. I quit Twitter and started posting here mid-2023 I think. Overall, I like it, but I have expressed some qualms about it (chiefly, overfinancialisation)

It's pretty clear now that the primary usecase for stablecoins is easy access to USD, rather than decentralisation. Decentralised ones will certainly exist, but it'll likely remain a niche. There's not much more innovation that can happen, except maybe distributing yield to stablecoin holders (instead of Tether making bank)

What do you think about the evolution of stablecoin projects? Do you believe decentralized ones have a chance of gaining a larger market share? What do you think about MakerDAO's strategy?

Great question! But I don't really have an answer. I wonder if it's just going to be more mundane than a lot of fiction...

It's just a pseudonym, but yeah, it's the same as the geographical feature

Is the meaning behind Polynya same as what appears when I google it?

They are arbitrary standards, those used to C will find that better, those used to F will prefer that. Personally, I'm used to C, so that's what I prefer. 

That said, for everyday life, I think C is slightly better; however, if we're just talking about weather in western countries, F is slightly more intuitive. But overall, yeah, pretty arbitrary and both are fine.

Ironically, the ones that have been successful. Very little attention paid to stablecoins, core DeFi or NFTs these days. The biggest elephant in the room - it's clear >90% of the value in crypto is derived from the speculative SoV usecase, as evidenced by BTC's sustained dominance, yet BTC remains very flawed with no interest in improving it.

What ideas in crypto aren't getting the attention they deserve?
