While browsing the Getty museum today I saw hundreds of paintings, but was drawn to two in particular. Upon closer examination, they were both by Monet. Something about the colors and style stood out from across the room. The use of paint creates a physicality that makes the scenes feel real.

One of my favorite Monet experiences is viewing multiple versions of the Rouen Cathedral hanging together on the same wall. Same subject but completely different lighting. Part of why the 4th floor of Musee d’Orsay is a pilgrimage every trip to Paris.

Monet captures even the drops of moisture reflected in the light.

His haystacks collection is excellent. He made a couple of these so if you get to see more, you'll see how the light changes during each part of the day!

I never appreciated Monet enough until I started painting with oils. There is so much there.

His work is incredible. Really changed the way light was seen or represented. The really huge paintings are so incredible to see in person

The haystack is part of a series by Monet. Haystacks under different weather and lighting conditions. Absolutely worthwhile to look those up.

I remember seeing Monet’s haystacks for the first time at the Met, they’re breathtaking. I too was drawn to them from across the room. They’re mesmerizing ✨
