Narrating bottoms up approach to your market is so much better than a TAM/SAM/SOM. Bottoms up allows you to show the value of each customer, and ends with how big the starting market potential is. TAM/SAM/SOM is top down. So by the time you get to your starting market, it's the smallest # and is no longer exciting.

The best mentors out there 1. Tell you what you need to hear, when you need to hear it. It's still mind blowing to me, how my mentors over the years have told me something I didn't want to hear in the moment, but needed to. Then within a matter of days/weeks/months, it was proven true. That's wisdom.
