While browsing the Getty museum today I saw hundreds of paintings, but was drawn to two in particular. 

Upon closer examination, they were both by Monet. 

Something about the colors and style stood out from across the room. The use of paint creates a physicality that makes the scenes feel real.

The haystack is part of a series by Monet.  Haystacks under different weather and lighting conditions.   Absolutely worthwhile to look those up.
