It's actually the name of one of Ralf's pieces, but also applies to his methodology which is in applying non-conventional means to create (sculptural) computing and calculating machines, for example: mechanical computers made form wooden frames with servo motors and the use physical and chemical reactions.

Yes, Amazing work. i have been following his work for some time. Unfortunately never saw his work IRL.  A couple year ago the installation "INTERFACE I" was exhibited near by (in gnration, Braga), but somehow I missed it.
