Folks here are helping me narrow down what I don’t like about crypto. I see the argument that it is a way to freely move currency even in the face of authoritarian governments. I guess on the one hand, I just don’t believe that governments can’t find a way to crack down on it. All the crying from crypto folks about the tyrannical SEC suggests governments still do matter. But more importantly, I think it’s a much better use of time and energy to organize and fight to stop those authoritarian governments from existing in the first place. I see so many brilliant people spending so much time on this thing that is literally separate from reality (it’s right there in the name crypto) when that energy could be put to more fruitful use. Anyway, no final conclusions, just some evolving thoughts.

I’m thinking about bringing back my “museletter” format that I wrote several years ago. 1. What’s a museletter? Each week you share what you’ve been thinking about. It’s a simple roundup of some observations and notes from the past several days. There’s no pressure to synthesize or do much formatting before publishing. Ideally you’ve already done some “thinking in public” during the week and can simply reference yourself. 2. Why bring it back? I love the consistency that @firstdraftclub has given me (31 consecutive weeks of writing something in /firstdraft) but I don't feel like I'm developing my ideas as much as I'd like. FDC is merely a "minimum viable writing habit" (h/t @sonyasupposedly). I have tons of ideas that get stuck somewhere between a cast and a full post, and I want a forcing function to push them out into the world. A weekly museletter is the next level of commitment that can be a reliable habit.

What other signals can we surface in trending onchain notifications? - Who created the token / coin / NFT? - Who is bought? - Who has held (and has a history of holiding)? - Is there a lock up? see Clanker v3.1 - Who has a history of selling quickly? - What is the lore? Did it start from a cast? A tweet? A meme? - Does it have an app? A frame? An agent? Can I one tap into that right from the notification? - Is there a deflationary mechanic? Other notes 1. We're early and iterating. The feature will be polarizing. You can turn it off if you don't like it. 2. Farcaster's differentiation is 1) every user has a wallet 2) it's programmable. Those two characteristics help people earn money on the network (in a variety of ways). Need to lean into that.

New channel experiment If you're following the /crypto-the-game channel, you'll see casts from people in that channel you don't follow in your home feed automatically. Goal is to increase social graph density for a specific sub-community. If the experiment goes well, we may start rolling this out to other channels.

Would be nice to see the edit screen immediately after selecting a photo, instead of briefly seeing the start page. The jump from start → photo selector → start → editor feels icky. Maybe preloading it in the background would do it?
