One meta belief I have, is that I think "on the face pursuing idealistic objective A, but actually being tilted toward selfish objective B" is better than "openly pursuing objective B".
Many seem to believe the opposite, typically saying something like "at least the latter is honest".
I feel like what this misses, is that maintaining the face of pursuing idealistic objective A, and using A to coordinate a large coalition, is a pretty big speed bump against attempts to pursue B too brazenly. When "the mask comes off", things actually become much worse, and strategies that pursue B at high costs to other values (including A, and also often general human decency) become unlocked.
Are there any good arguments against this intuition I have? (Whether generalized, or about specific situations) 49 replies

We raised $20M to bring RWAs onchain, backed by Brevan Howard Digital, Haun Ventures, Galaxy Ventures, Lightspeed Faction, Superscrypt, Hashkey, Laser Digital (Nomura Group), A Capital, 280 Capital, SV Angel, Reciprocal Ventures, and others.
180+ protocols are already building on Plume L1. Mainnet is on the horizon. The future of RWAfi is here. 🌍

Some chatter on this, especially around the “eat their lunch” phrasing
My perspective as a user:
Warpcast has a difficult role to play: as the largest product on the Farcaster protocol, their actions will drive the majority of new user growth
Along the way, there will be other apps that emerge to fill gaps in the Warpcast value prop. Scheduled casts, onchain actions, real time chat, etc
As those features are validated by users, the Warpcast team is then faced with a choice: integrate these features into the main app (thereby stimulating growth), or intentionally avoid building it to reduce competition with ecosystem partners
The rub: if Farcaster doesn’t significantly grow, then all ecosystem apps will likely die anyway due to lack of sufficient users.
My personal framework around this topic is less vibes driven and more realpolitik; as an app builder, you have to be prepared for your great feature idea to be copied as soon as it’s proven to be successful with users. 7 replies
