Outside of art, not sure what the point of collecting an NFT is. I've talked about this privately with a bunch of people but surprised it's not discussed more publicly.

should note that an nft you receive as a receipt of doing something else (buying a ticket, subscribing to something, etc...) makes more sense. talking about going to an nft page and hitting "collect" or "mint"

I think of NFTs — well, specifically low-cost OEs — as digital stickers. I spend $3 or whatever to put them in my sticker book, as a way to support the creator and simply for the satisfaction of looking at my stickers

https://warpcast.com/six/0xc0dbdeb4 idk if this is anything but this was my personal interrogation of the same question what I landed on is that minting may be less about owning/“collecting” the NFT object and more about a new medium of communicating w the creator

It’s a connection at a point in time between the issuer and collector. It makes sense for art because art collectors value connection to artists, especially post-Warhol. Expand that to communities, organizations, etc. I don’t mint FC version NFTs because of the art, but because I’m here when certain releases are coming out.

I’m new to the onchain space, so forgive me if this is an ice-cold take. So far I see a TON of excitement. Huge discussions happening about advancing tech around the arts. But all of it is very insular. The tech needs to be a seamless consumer-first vehicle for procurement, and enjoyment. Otherwise neither happens.
