i spent a summer in an operating room, shadowing an orthopedic surgeon who was the team doctor for the Dodgers, Lakers, and Kings.
in a typical OR, the responsibility of cleaning up post-surgery usually falls on the nurses.
in ours that summer, the surgeon — despite his experience working on the top athletes in the top hospitals in the world — was always mopping the floors and cleaning up the trash until the room returned spotless.
"treat no job and no person as though they are beneath you," is what he shared my first day. it has stuck with me since.
i've watched 4 founders exemplify that this week:
@vitalik.eth visiting all the impact booths to ask questions, speaking at every event
@jessepollak onboarding tuktuk drivers, joining the buildher brunch, providing real-time, in-person feedback to new apps
@linda volunteering at the FC booth, meeting power users for lunch, asking for feedback
and (surprise!) @stani carrying banners, handing out merch to crowds, talking to devs
this matters to people. 16 replies
