What’s a moment in your life that taught you to be confident? Sometimes the little things can teach us a lot about believing in ourselves. A funny example for me would be my first encounter with a pogo stick in 3rd grade. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to jump more than 2-3 times, while all the other kids made it look easy. That night, I went to bed determined to figure it out. The next day, I was bouncing like a champ. It’s silly but I still think about that day when I am stuck on something. 😂 What about you? Do you have any experiences like this that you remember when facing a challenge?

Getting back on a board after breaking a collar bone and no contact for 6 months. Scared the shit out of me but made me realize that even though I got hurt real bad, I could pick myself up and come back stronger.

My first real confidence boost was in 7th Grade. I was always a bigger kid when I was younger, pretty stocky..so I joined the football team. Within just a couple weeks I had actual friends that would show me genuine respect for how much effort I put out on the field. It was the first time in my life I found my own stride and this really helped me walk around with my head up and truly gave me the confidence to engage with people! Pogo sticks were tough for me too haha...same with skateboarding. You're not along holmes

Played in the LLWS as 14 year old, and hung with some of the best baseball players my age. I put in a ton of work the summer before and it paid off in a really tangible way. That stuck with me and continued to motivate me to put in the work in all aspects of my life.

For me confidence was built through playing sports. There's a mentality in sports that pushes you through ups and downs. But there's nothing like winning a championship or having a winning moment to boost your confidence, especially after failures. I've played different sports and had many moments of failure and some of victory. But the overall rhythm of sports failure and winning is most responsible for my confidence.

When I was 26 I was asked to join an acrobatic stilt company. I had no experience on stilts , but I did contact improvisation dance, and knew how to lift people and fall safely and dance. My first day borrowing stilts I succeeded in doing a slide fall. Falling intentionally on stilts is something most stilters avoid their whole life, but was instrumental to the choreography. I would be learning. I had five days of intensive training including mirroringincredibly experience dances, and incredibly complex footwork. I stumbled often, but eventually I was doing kick covers and drop backs and other seeming impossible maneuvers. and then I was on a plane to Mexico where I was helping teach other stilters acrobatics and choreography. The next three months I performed multiple times a day with The Carpetbag Brigade Including work as a four-legged, mythical, stilt creature and all kinds of crazy lifts and moves. For the next decade, teaching and performing acrobatics Stilts was a big party of my life and career.

I love your pogo stick story. It's amazing how something simple like that can stay with you as a reminder of perseverance. For me, one moment that stands out was when I first started speaking in front of a crowd. I was really nervous in high school, and my voice would shake when I had to present something. I remember this one day when I had to speak in front of the entire class, and I was absolutely terrified. But I decided to give it my best shot. I took a deep breath and spoke slowly, focusing on getting my message across rather than worrying about how I sounded. When I finished, I was surprised by the positive feedback I got from my classmates and teacher. It taught me that confidence comes from taking the leap and that even small steps forward count. Now, whenever I’m faced with a challenging situation, I remind myself of that moment. It helps me trust that I can handle whatever comes my way.

This reminds me of the time I learned to ride a bicycle..... I was so scared of falling that I kept giving up after a few failed attempts .... But one day, I decided I wouldn’t stop until I figured it out.....I kept trying, despite the scrapes and bruises, and finally, I got the hang of it..... That moment taught me that confidence doesn’t come before you try, it comes after you keep going. It’s funny how small moments like these can leave such a big impact, isn’t it?

I was given a tool by my boss at a time to develop an application with no prior experience within a limited time frame and I got really scared of messing it up or not delivering at the slated time. But as I began working on the project I realised that I could actually work with any given tool as long I'm focused and put in the work.

A few years ago when I took part in a diving course. I did one of the tasks badly and kept swallowing water. After many attempts, I panicked and gave up the fight because it was no longer comfortable. After that I spent hours thinking about what happened... After a few hours of "rest", we dived again in the afternoon and it was no longer a problem, because I realized that I had to relax and not cramp. The afternoon went so well that, I didn't pay attention to the bottle and at the end we practiced the running out of air task. But since then I know that nothing is impossible, especially if you are surrounded by supportive friends.

I graduated SAI Bootcamp (special alternative incarceration) then completed an intensive drug court program. I’ve been out of trouble and off the dope (except weed) for over 10 years now and I have an amazing wife and daughters. I wanted to quit so bad when I was in that camp but I didn’t. It was so worth it.

Some days ago , my teacher was taking viva . It was about my major. I saw my classmates got cooked. I was too much afraid. But when my time turned..I was decided to be real honest and feel like I've nothing to lose..But actually I did great.... At the end of the Viva ,He was impressed and told me you have a lot of potential and advise me to carry it . Those magical words work like a booster. And I will never forget that.
