try it without training. almost tear a hamstring. decide running isn't for you. get a 12 pack from Krispy Kreme and enjoy while watching TV saying you'll do it next year... best kind of training there is

recently ran my first marathon, a few learnings: 1. your longest run doesn't need to be longer than ~3 hours 2. do lots of hip exercises/stretching as part of your recovery routine 3. gels help a lot on longer runs 4. don't forget to start tapering ~2 weeks out

Develop the correct technique for jogging. Always stretch after each workout. Take care of your knees with ice. Shoes suitable for your type of footprint. Learn how to drink water while jogging This is personal. To run a Marathon you must have been running for at least 1 year.

If you haven’t done many runs start with a running clinic so they can help with your technique and the right shoes

The marathon handbook do great training plans for free. I would invest in some decent running trainers and make sure you do your long runs nice and slow.

For me 17km was the magic number I would run that once or twice a week Once you're comfortable with that you'll be fine for a marathon. I don't think it's necessary to do any longer runs than that

My top three tips would be: - Never skip warming up your legs before a run and by that I mean doing dynamic mouvements (squats, calf raises, glute bridges, etc…). Your knees will thank you. - Look into nutrition (avoid the 30k wall) -at least 80% in training in low heart rate (aerobic) will make you progress faster.

Start slow, find a simple program (I used Hal Hidgeon novice), and remember if you can grind through those long training runs on your own, the marathon will be easy.

I think besides the running train, it's good to do mobility and force improvement.
